Voice Lessons and Singing Lessons:
Most everyone likes to sing, be it in the shower, karaoke or if trying out for a big part! It just feels good. Be it rock, pop, country, jazz, gospel or R&B, PMA has a vocal instructor for you. Our voice faculty focuses a lot on popular music, as it is in demand. Each week, students are led through physical exercises to improve their vocal range, ear training, breath control, enunciation and more. Each student sets goals with their teacher, either to sound like their favorite recording artist, or to develop their own unique voice. We also teach TV and radio personalities who want to enhance their speaking voices.
In-Person Voice Classes vs. Online Vocal Classes
PMA, like many other schools, has had to evaluate how to keep music lessons going. While we know the most effective way to teach and learn is in person, we also want to ensure our staff’s and students’ safety and peace of mind. PMA has gone above and beyond what is required for safety precautions, to insure safe in person music lessons.
Safety Video.. For the time being, in addition to in person classes, we will offer online singing lessons for kids, voiceover coaching and will be happy to discuss how we are offering the best online singing lessons possible. We also have vocal coaches who would be excited to educate you on voiceover coaching. Ask us how.
What’s the #1 reason to take voice lessons at PMA?
Our voice teachers work with each student and parent on a personal level to craft lessons and set goals that fit the student's individual needs and favorite type of music. Whether you’re a singer in a band, a six year old taking a first lesson, or a fifty year old returning to singing after many years, our friendly, dedicated teachers will share their love of popular music and help you set goals to achieve your musical aspirations - the right way!
What styles of singing do you teach?
Our voice teachers primarily focus on popular music. If you've always wanted to be a better rock, pop, country, jazz, gospel or R&B singer, we have the right voice teachers for you. We also have an instructor who is actively involved in Arizona Opera, and one who performs in the theater.
How qualified are your voice instructors?
Our voice lesson instructors have received their musical education from such prestigious and highly accredited institutions. See our
instructors page for specific education and accreditations. Many perform professionally in plays and the opera and have toured. They bring many years of professional performance and teaching experience to your lessons.
What will I learn from voice classes at PMA?
Voice students spend time each week doing physical exercises to improve their vocal range, ear training, breath control, vibrato, tone production, enunciation and more. All voice students set goals with their teacher to work on sounding like their favorite recording artists, or if they prefer, to develop their own unique voice.
Are there recitals?
Absolutely! For many PMA students, our bi-annual recitals are the crux of music lessons, when they get to show off what they have learned from their music lessons! Students have the opportunity to perform on a top notch stage, in a beautiful setting, for friends and family. PMA recitals are fun gatherings where attendees catch up and get to listen to great entertainment. All students are encouraged to participate.
We also host monthly open mic nights at Blaze Pizza’s CenPho location, in their semi-private venue. Families come together for a fun night of pizza and entertainment, where you will show off the fruits of vocal coaching, to a packed house! Performing is open to all, not only PMA students. A portion of proceeds go toward expanding music lessons in the community.
