Piano and Keyboard Lessons
(Ages 4 and up)
Whether you aspire to play Bach or Alicia Keys, our dedicated piano instructors will help you become the pianist you want to be. Our faculty will introduce you to the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, and incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons. You do not need a piano at home to take piano lessons; a simple full-size electronic keyboard will suffice for beginners.
In-Person Piano Lessons vs. Online Piano Lessons
PMA, like many other schools, has had to evaluate how to keep music lessons going. While we know the most effective way to teach and learn is in person, we also want to ensure our staff’s and students’ safety and peace of mind. PMA has gone above and beyond what is required for safety precautions, to insure safe in person music lessons. Safety Video. For the time being, in addition to in person classes, we will offer online piano and keyboard lessons and will be happy to discuss how we are offering the best online piano lessons possible. Ask us how.
What’s the #1 reason to study the piano at PMA?
Our piano instructors are warm and friendly, and get to know each student and parent on a personal level. We work with each individual or parent to make lesson plans that fit each student’s unique goals and favorite type of music. Whether you strive to play jazz, be the life of the party, are a 5 year old taking a first lesson, or beginning retirement, our teachers will share their love for the piano and help you set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.
What will I learn from piano lessons at PMA?
Piano students spend time each learning chords, increasing reach and having a good time. They will show you the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, and incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons.
How qualified are our piano and keyboard instructors?
Our piano and keyboard instructors have received their education from prestigious institutions from around the US. See our instructors page for specific education and accreditations. Some have performed in prestigious music halls, and bring many years of professional performance and teaching experience to your lessons. They also perform solo and in bands around the Valley and encourage our students to see them perform.
Do I have to know how to read music?
No. Our instructors are ready to offer beginner piano lessons to advanced piano lessons.
Do I need a piano to learn the instrument?
No, you do not need a piano at home to take lessons. A simple full size electronic keyboard will suffice for the first 6 months.
Are there piano recitals?
Absolutely! For many PMA students, our bi-annual recitals are the crux of music lessons, when they get to show off! Students have the opportunity to perform on a top notch stage, in a beautiful setting, for friends and family. PMA recitals are fun gatherings where attendees catch up and get to listen to great entertainment. All students are encouraged to participate.
We also host monthly open mic nights at Blaze Pizza’s CenPho location, in their semi-private venue. Families come together for a fun night of pizza and entertainment. Performing is open to all, not only PMA students. A portion of proceeds go toward expanding music lessons in the community.
