John is a Virginia born pianist currently based in Phoenix, Arizona. He has a degree in Piano Performance from Arizona State University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree there with a class piano teaching assistantship.
As a soloist, John is experienced in all the style periods but has a special affinity for modernist and contemporary genres. He is also a trained organist and harpsichordist and has studied intensively the performance practice of the Baroque era. He is employed as head organist at St. Bernadette’s Church in Scottsdale. In addition to giving solo recitals, John is a passionate collaborator, having accompanied countless vocalists and instrumentalists as well as participating in chamber and large ensemble concerts. Through this work, he has gained experience in a variety of non-classical styles including musical theatre and rock. John has performed and studied both nationally and internationally, participating in the Schlern International Music Festival in Italy, North Carolina’s Brevard Music Festival, and the White Nights Piano Festival in Russia. John is soon to be featured in a recital for ASU’s BAMM! workshop for high school upperclassmen interested in studying music. John teaches all levels of piano from the earliest beginners through advanced, and all styles from classical to modern, to rock and roll. John's gentle nature and kindness make him a very approachable and likable teacher for all ages.
