Music FunTime: A Research-Based Start for Ages 2 to 5 years

Give your child the gift of music, and a head start in learning. Music FunTime at Prestige Music Academy is more than playtime. Backed by Johns Hopkins research, this program shows that children under 7 can learn to read music notation, recognize symbols, and play instruments while strengthening their foundation in math and science.

Educational Foundation

Unlike traditional “music play groups,” Music FunTime engages both sides of the brain through songs, rhythm games, crafts, and real instruments. Kids sing and move, while also learning core concepts that spark creativity, confidence, and early academic growth.

Your child will:

  • Explore rhythm, melody, and musical notation

  • Strengthen motor skills with crafts and hands-on activities

  • Build social confidence in a fun, group environment

  • Begin a lifelong love of music

Classes for Every Stage (2 to 5 Years)

We tailor each class to your child’s age and ability level, so they’re always learning and thriving:

  • Toddler (2 – 3 yrs): Crafts, singing, and instrument play to introduce music theory concepts.
  • Preschool (3-4 years and Early Elementary 4-5): Reading musical notation, playing simple songs, and building ensemble skills.

Our youngest students deserve the most patient, creative, and supportive teachers. That’s why our early childhood music classes are taught by warm, professional instructors who know how to make learning fun while laying a real foundation in rhythm, melody, and notation.

Alicia M..jpg

Alicia M.

Alicia is an Elementary Band and Strings teacher in the Cartwright School District. Originally a Pennsylvania native, Alicia received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a concentration on flute and piccolo. During her time in Phoenix, she has taught students who have participated in the ASU String Project, Greater Phoenix Honors Music Festival, and has led performances at two Phoenix Suns NBA games. She enjoys teaching band instruments as well as strings to beginners, preparing them for further studies as they enter high school. Without outstanding teachers like Ms. Berasi to foster an early love for these instruments within the children who pick them up for the first time, we wouldn't have older kids flourishing in their musical studies. She has a reward system that she uses to encourage excellence and a great personality!

Jalyn L.

Jalyn is an award-winning performer and recording artist, songwriter, and music producer. With fifteen years of experience teaching beginning and advanced piano, beginning and advanced voice, beginning guitar, and songwriting, Jalyn enjoys working with people of all ages: young kids, teens, and adults. Creating a space where students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, growing, and taking pride is something she is very passionate about. We laugh a lot but get a lot done!

Jalyn loves figuring out what makes each student tick. She will find out what your goals are, along with your unique learning style, strengths, and weaknesses, and then customize a learning plan just for you! With a Master's degree in Music and a background in psychology and communication, Jalyn excels at teaching traditional and non-traditional students alike. Which includes people with learning disabilities and special needs, gifted and accelerated learners, self-taught musicians, tone-deaf singers, people who play other instruments or are advanced-level musicians, and older beginners.

Enjoy learning music in any of these styles: rock, pop, jazz, soul, hip-hop, blues, metal, rap, musical theater, classical, new age, video game, movie music, and more! Each genre has a unique “sound," and as a music producer, Jalyn has mastered many genres, so she can help you fine-tune the rhythms, chords, vocal colors, and pronunciation that create the particular sound you're going for. We will blend the technical with the artistic, create strong mind-body connections, and develop a healthy mindset for tackling your music. Plus, students are always encouraged to put their own artistic spin on whatever we are learning.

With online or in-person lessons, Jalyn is ready and excited to help you reach your musical goals!
